The PVN can be bigger, but not by much since there are many other things that need to be integrated into the design (view the current version, for example). Maybe if it were the size of two columns (instead of one). Since it is where many of the NTers hang out each day. It doesn't need to contain more features though.
I think it'd be interested in having the option of posting thumbnail-sized images (maybe it can automatically resize images to a smaller size, like 50x50 (it's harder to abuse the ability to post images this way). Some formatting would also be interesting to at least test out, such as bolding, italics, and underlining.
Having only these features added will allow the PVN to retain some simplicity.
