Because sometimes who you are is a negative, unhappy person that no one enjoys being around, and who portrays no joy in life for anything really, and who takes very little interest in their children and is jealous of every new thing their spouse tries to do for themselves to enjoy their life.
I know someone who is going through exactly that right now - trying to get their spouse to change - and it's horrible what they have to go through.
Jaline said it very well:
