    Hyperthreading is indeed more than a 'buzzword'.

    "With Hyper-Threading enabled, a single CPU can appear as two logical processors to the OS and certain software applications, enabling the processor to execute two program instructions (or threads) simultaneously. It's similar to how a multiprocessor system works, though not quite as powerful."

    The trick is that the software has to be optimized to take advantage of it, otherwise it can slow things down. For 3D work, the performance increase is huge, but with other things it will slow. All depends on what you use your computer for.
