Abstract
A middle cerebellar pedunclotomy via an anterior transpetrosal approach is proposed as an alternative approach to the trans-4th ventricular route for removal of mid-pontine cavernomas located near the surface of the 4th ventricle. This approach provides a straightforward operative trajectory to the lesion and has less risk of damage to the facial nerve function.
