    No, Rand - the details are forever-set in ...ahh, you're on a mac, right?... wherever it is you go to define what network you're on.

    It's basically an extra switch - WEP or WPA, and then you enter your password (which you set on your wireless router/modem/thing). Once it's done, it's done.

    If you're in the countryside and you don't use your wireless for banking or confidential stuff (including emails!) then it's possibly not worth it.

    If you do anything even vaguely important across it I'd recommend you put security on.

    At the very least - don't advertise your 'SSID' (the name you gave to your connection).
