fuck sake, the glasgow lot won't stand for this and I can see there being terrible repercusions, as in attacks on muslims and all kinds of horrible doings.

I was going to go into depth here, but instead I'll just say that's pretty unlikely and anyone who has experience of living here would know that.
It may happen a little, but not in a widespread way.
Personally, I am more worried about slight escalation of ill feeling and attacks on the immigrants who are being housed in some of the worst parts of the city (muslim or not), something that has been of concern for a while now.
