Boz, While I appreciate that you're writing me a such a long post, I think I see where problem is. IMHO, you're looking on the wrong console for the games that please your tastes. The same thing I've got when I was buying myself handheld console - I was considering DS, but after I saw few games on it, I've decided to buy PSP - and despite that I'm well aware of DS selling like mad, this single fact doesn't change one thing: that I enjoy playing on my PSP.
What I wouldn't enjoy though, is ~$400 console bricking on me couple times during year. Believe, I've almost bought xbox, but my friend called in time telling me his brand new unit went down. After 3 weeks.
But as they say - whatever makes you happy.
