I'm not usually the type to say this kinda stuff but it sticks out in my mind because it was a big deal when I was about 10 or 11 and my mother, a successful type business woman who adored Liz Claiborne stopped buying her products and she made sure to tell me why...
Liz Claiborne is a crazy racist bitch.
I cant remember because I was young exactly what happened then that made the news... but she did something. My mom isn't really an activist of in any way. I'd say she really tries to blend in for the most part.... but it was something big enough for me to know she was offended.
I think growing up in an upper middle class area and being accepted for the most part as part of their flock made it really easy for situations to fly right over my head and not recognize passive racism. Anyway.....
