They should at least have the decency using a British Standard-compliant light switch.
This'd be a good idea if the electric companies forcibly turned off electricity for an hour. All of it - streetlights, housing supplies, special backups for intensive care wards - off.
Maybe in its total absence we'd come to appreciate how much of it there is. How dark, lonely and terrifying reality can be without our electron-blankie.
