I saw him at his club, quite funny really.

Its a generational thing. My Gran who's 85 from Liverpool, is stupifyingly racist, but she grew up in a time where there were no people of any colour other than white, lived through a second world war etc etc blah blah.

I went to see a comidian last week who couldnt stop laying into the Polish etc, so I think ther's a new breed of racist comedy happening.

comedy at its best reflects what society is thinking. Manning represented an awful lot of Britain in the 70's and 80's, people moved on, he didnt as he was making a living from it.

Fuck me the guy was huge in america too, filled out vegas casinos, the only people who could do that now are Eddie Izzard etc. So in his day he was very popular.

It became wrong to laugh at those jokes. But at the end of the day, just a bloke cracking a few jokes.

I went to a Manchester cricket club dinner, where everyone was white apart from one black guy, and he did lay into him, but no one laughed.

As an aside he was in my sweepstake " who will dies this year". I won £20 quid yesterday.

    good on ya' Bernard
