I think it's less a question of ownership than it is of affiliation.
Mediatemple is a discrete company, a company that makes its money by propagating itself amongst designers. QBN wishes to be seen as somehow useful, beyond simply providing a forum for bored designers wishing to waste time.
What's an easy to put together service if you have the capacity and the links? A quick revenue generator aimed at capitalising on your current strengths? Why, a jobs board, of course.
Combined, they can guarantee a lot of exposure through the MT network and through Newstoday (etc) advertising.
Pepsico this ain't.
QBN is two Polish dudes, based in a garage outside of Wroclaw (they were originally rat-catchers, 'til they came across an Apple IIc in a dumpster ) Mediatemple, third generation Charles Mansonites with a penchant for peanut butter, jello and blood sandwiches, eaten under a full moon.
