    another way to look at this might be that you want to take a step back and focus on the true art direction, if you want to be an 'art director'... or whatever.

    my point is, develop the concept and basis for your design aesthetic before you start 'designing'. close illy, pshop, flash and sketch out concepts by hand, or with whatever tool set allows you to loose yourself. along side this, take notes of ideas you woudl like both expressed, and realized. these can form the basis of a creative brief and the AD statement that you can work from and serve as an artifact to review with your client as to why you did what you did.

    AD is tough and not having direction is the entire goal if you want to be one. but, more important, is not just throwing shit on the wall, but being able to defend and critique why you threw certain pieces and of certain viscosity.

    i would be stoked if i were you. these types of projects are rare IMO.
