Not sure if I understand, but can't you just right-click on a link to open in a new tab?

(Jun 11 07, 13:33)The way I have it set up on FF is that if a link to _blank or any link that spawns a new window opens in a new tab, not a new window when I left click it. I don't like the extra step of right clicking or ctrl clicking.
