For the snaxophone, just make sure the snacks arent stored in the tube, theres a lot of moisture and humidity from breath/spit.
A friend of mine plays the saxophone, he says they have flavoured reeds supposedly 'made for kids' to remind them to suck on 'em before putting them on the sax.
