Ottawa's a terrible place to live. I'm not sure if there are many design - related jobs here, and it's boring for families. And it gets less interesting each year (as the city shrinks and has less festivals). Plus their hockey team is going to blow it this year.
Anyway, the suggestions above are good. You could live in another area and commute to the job area.
