I have returned. To quote Zap Brannigan:

"With the dual guns of tact and diplomacy I blasted our enemies with a fair comprimise"

At first he tried to say he didn't agree with the redesign and he didnt approve it so he questions the resource we put towards implementing it.

I told him that he put the person in place to act as liason who was part of the redesign team and any failing in communication was his. Luckily development has come too far in the redesign effort to go back now so this was actually some good timing.

After the initial go to hell speech I gave him about how the old UI (not mine) looked like a toy and users have consistently graded the new one higher so he can question our motives but not our results. The fun part is that the UI he was looking at wasn't any more than 60% implemented so that shut him down on several fronts.

In the end, I'm sending him a full report with the mockups that the code should be moving towards so he can see the direction we are heading and I will try to bring more "whimsy" into this enterprise product.

    sigh.

all in all though it ended up being a good meeting and I'm slowly bringing him into the fold I've been building these past 6 months. Then I cut off his head with my mind.
