Yeah, what Daro said. There's some good museums in mexico.
Teotihuacan is also a good choice. It's boring for me coz I've been there a few times now and it's my country after all, but for a foreigner it might be a good choice to see something like this coz you ain't finding something similar back at home.
There's tons of street markets. I just went a couple of months ago to Texcoco which is near Mexico city and went to 2 street markets and grabbed 5 Von Dutch hats for 5 bucks each.

And for the love of god. Eat some Tacos!!! trompo (pork) and milanesa (beef with onion and cilantro)
and DON'T eat ice cream, fruit and things like that on the street. Local people can handle them but foreigners can get the "runs"
