I was faced with this decision last week and decided on the PS2 because of the quantity and quality of games.. My research led be to believe that the XBox is superior in hardware but for me it was about playability and I've been extremely happy with my PS2 so far.
Watched a couple DVD's without any issues, and MK: Deadly Alliance and Gran Turismo 3 where my first two game purchases.
PS2 is my opinion.. Maybe XBox will be able to sign on some better game developers for 2003 and I'll look into it next year. Peace!
