    I use my first gen macbook for web work, with an external monitor and keyboard. Unlike the mb pro, it is too small itself to do any serious work on its LCD.
    It could be faster, but I'm talking hard drive rather than video chip (even though I upgraded to an 7200rpm drive).
    Video cards are overrated, I have an old 32mb matrox at work, drives two large monitors flawlessly. Unless you're going to do 3D, video board isn't crucial.

    Even if an upgrade is coming, you should be fine getting one of refurb mb pros, just make sure it is core 2 duo and NOT GLOSSY!!! ;)
