Just to clear the air. Jesse is a great designer, i do think highly of him and his talents.
the project was spec work. anyone knows that you don't get paid to pitch. This season, i invited a few freelancers in so that if their work was selected, i would directly hook them up with the client after this season. It's my way of trying to at least give back to people i believe in, as well as trying to give the client fresh ideas.
I paid him $25 for each comp (up to 4) then if any pieces were selected, i would add another 275 per each piece. So this is about $100 bucks. no pieces were selected or used. he still maintains all his rights to the pieces.
If he posted his rage here or just sent me a email to let me know he hasn't gotten taken care of, i would of paid him either way.
in the end, i have no issues with Jesse. very disappointed by this approach, but he is very talented and i wish him the best.
as far as invoices, i have over $5000 out from last year that hasn't been paid. But that is my business and the clients. not public domain.
