What does he have to do with Amazon not telling you? That's your headache and has nothing to do with it. Just because they push you over doesn't mean you can scam the 3rd guy.
I do agree that £80 for a 1 dead pixel monitor is pretty fair, but that is also beside the point. You're missing the big picture about not being honest. Just remember that karma is a bitch.
