kOna..sorry man..that's just dumb..."Hi" is normal everyday american english...and has been for a longtime..what? I gotta police what I say bc of someone's perceived insult of everyday common language? Bullshit.
Hey, I go to Japan and am very careful not to use "Hi" in that context, not only because it's potentially offensive I suppose but also it's confusing...but fuck that..you're in America and this guy got upset for saying "Hi??"
Dude deserved a beating.
Reminds me of the time when we got into a brawl because we were eating in a chinese restuarant and my friend was trying to describe a sound and said "ching ching"..the people at the next table starting shouting at us "Why ar eyou using racial remarks!" and we're like WTF are you talking about? We're talking about the sound of an instrument!" And they're like "You're calling us chinks!" Well, lets say calm heads did not prevail and it got ugly.
The funny part was, we were an interracial group of people (white, black, latino and asian) and they were three chinese dudes sitting in a fucking chinese restuarant and they wanted to school us on "being bigots"...
