Basically, pretend we are in Photoshop (But I want to do this in illustrator)
Ok say you had some text > Rasterized the text >
Selected only that text >
Contracted the selection by 2 pixels or so >
select inverse and deleteWhat you have left is the inner areas of the original text.
That's probably not too clear either but, oh well I suck at explaining things. Yeah any other way than the direct select tool, not sure how you would do it with the knife or scissors.
