it's not even cultural. its just pure hatred.
couples in northern ireland used to have to go into hiding aswell if they married outside their religion...

and, to that end, stoning in ireland was a practiced, 'common' artifact of history for many centries.
i still feel it is inhumane, but nonetheless, a cultural occurance.
