    i actually base my rates on other things as well, such as:

    > what market they are in
    > what the annual earnings are a year (usually easy to find out)
    > get a good idea of budget
    > what else they might need, for example stationary, website, etc...

    you always want to upsell your services, this way you can charge more, but it looks like you are doing more as well. Offer deals and such, so if you say 500 for a logo, or 1200 for a logo and stationary....in all reality the logo is the mian project, the stationary should flow pretty easily for you...

    i have had clients put up to $8,000 (technology company) for a logo and stationary...

    I would suggest not having a set price...this way you can market yourself into more projects more easily...also doesnt sound like you wont budge on pricing...
