Death penalty has been proven not to deter crime. Nuff said.

U may need some sort of righteous retribution, I don't.

Thank you for offering an explanation.

I believe in maintaining a death penalty purely on principal. I never said I supported it because of some promise of reducing crime. I don't expect that it really does deter people from murdering each other. That doesn't change the fact that killing is wrong, punishable by law, and that said punishment must be just.

I've said this before: grace and forgiveness is not the province of justice systems. Justice systems are all about repaying in kind. Punish the guilty, free the innocent. That's what a handful of people in the world's justice systems still strive for, at any rate.

If anyone ever killed someone dear to me, I hope I would have the grace to forgive them, not to want revenge.

You are confusing justice with revenge. Vengeance belongs to God. It never produces anything good. Have I made myself any clearer?
