gramme, do you think republicans actually ever want to overturn roe v. wade?
What would get the fundies out to the polls if they didnt have the evil baby killers to vote against?

(May 2 07, 13:55)I think some actually do want to change it and some don't give a shit. Either way, that's what I believe in.
On the death penalty: because I believe life to be sacred, I think that if someone has been proven guilty beyond any shadow of a doubt to be a murderer, that they should be repaid in kind by our justice system. Only in this context. You take a life, you forfeit your own. I believe that while spiritually they are not beyond help, they have lost the right to inhabit their physical body.
I understand the arguments against the death penalty; my two younger brothers, both fellow Christians, are strongly against the death penalty because of their understandable doubt of the quality of our justice system. They would rather put killers away for life. My feeling is that I don't think it's fair to allow them to live that long. Again, I can see both sides of that argument. Some say that not one innocent person should die, and thus the death penalty is wrong; others say that a few innocent deaths are better than many truly guilty killers being allowed to live.
At this point I side with the latter argument, but am not particularly dogmatic about it. It doesn't seem to be quite as clear cut to me as abortion.
Anyone see Children of Men? I thought the contrast was stunning between how people reacted to babies and the gift of pregnancy in the movie, in light of how reverence for life in the real world has been so far degraded.
