a lot of people dont like the functionality of these sites as they arent "the norm"
i like what that guy http://www.daniellubrano.com/ has done with the constant navigation that allows you to scroll left and right by clicking the nav.
why not give this a look at, hack it about a bit to get some nice smoothmotion in your horizontal :)
