I DO have a problem with the meat industry, and th wholesale consumption of meat. For one thing, here in the US it is heavily subsidized, in that money I could rightfully spend on veg is taken by the feds and given to people for eating meat, the production of which fucks up the environment for everyone else - acres of chicken farm that seep shit into everyone elses water supply, kills the river, makes a right fucking stink and a shameful irresponsible mess that everyone else has to put up with.. Try and light a cigarette in the wrong place and these same hypocrites wag their lard-laden fingers at you before driving off in a cloud of exhaust fumes on their way to church.
Meat might taste nice and be associated with feeling tough and macho, but the truth IS that in a shrinking world it is just plain irresponsible. Do you want to leave this world a better place than when you got here ? Think of your impact on the environment happening all in one place - if you eat meat, you have several acres of shit-laden barren wasteland, and a lake full of water that could be needed somewhere else. Just because your footprint is spread out over a whole continent does not mean you are not responsible. If you want to eat meat, get some cheap land in the midwest and raise the animals yourselves, otherwise stop foisting your wasted energy and rivers of shit onto the rest of us, its time to grow up.
