The G5 is designed for dual processor systems. It offers 215 in-flight instructions (the G4 can only do 16), an optimized Velocity engine, two double precision floating points, two fload store units, massive branch prediction logic, 130 nanometer process, silicon on insulator, and 8 layer copper interconnects.
The G5 runs current 32-bit apps natively, runs up to 2GHz, 1GHz front-side bus (fastest bus ever says Jobs).
