    He might have been talking out of his arse though. I believe you have to get approval to engage an 'enemy' before actually firing. I really can't imagine a group of US whatevers out on a boat doing a patrol and another country comes along and does this and the guys have free reign to do whatever. Talk about a potential WW3 disaster.

    I might be wrong but I think they'd need the ok to engage.

    Many people aren't aware of this but it has happened to the U.S. before, and they did not engage.
