the reason why you shouldn't buy downtown even if your time line is 5-10 years, is that the shit is WAY over priced for what you get. The biscuit company lofts I mentioned on 7th and matteo, are starting at 500K for a 500sqft condo. Keep in mind this is a really bad neighborhood, nightly shootings etc. Even though it is cleaning up, its never going to be midtown manhattan. Even tho the builders would like to make you think so based on the prices.
Consider downtown Long Beach. Really cool urban lofts with views of the harbor etc and a safer neighborhood, a quarter of the price.
