I like his music....but he and his music was hailed more for and after his death. His band didn't have that much music out at the time of his death, and therefore it is strange to just claim that he was one of the greatest artists ever.

they were considered revolutionary *at* the time they were re-defining what rock music was. they were lauded as such and to the point critics, fans, etc could not pinpoint what was so unbelievable about them, but that it would be defined to come.
honestly, Smells Like Teen Spirit is an anthem. listen to and feel the emotion and strife in that track and it will change one's outlook. promise.... ;)
