I know of a guy in toronto (i'm going to try to avoid slander but his practice disgusts me, so fuck it) who owns a small web design company.
He purchased to rights to sites like http://www.parties.ca/ (and among others, dj's rennovations, conscruction) etc. When you click the link it takes you to his company. GoPro.
He then extorts business out of you if you want the domain. If you want the domain, not only does he have the right to sell it to you, he will also want to build the site (and all of their work so far as I can tell, is brochure ware)
It's called "parking domains" and was rampant during the boom. I beleive it is now illegal.
