This is a classic problem. The issue is NOT 3 designs of the same standard. This is the ideal situation – as we all know that if you put something with less design rationale and sophistication, that will be chosen.
The problem has come somewhere in your directing them through the design process, likely. You need to explain that choosing all 3 is NOT an option a- and then explain why.
