  What gets my attention is a simple email with a link to their site or a pdf showcasing some of their best work. This should include a CV stating the obvious:

  - date of birth
  - address
  - qualifications
  - work history
  - software experience etc

  I once read a CV which was about four pages long and the girl was stating how she loves going for walks and listening to birds singing. POINTLESS!!!

  An employer doesn't need to know stuff like that.
