IE hasnt been dis-continued for the mac strickly because of Safari.. it has also been dis-continued for the PC as well and now will be embedded in the OS only- starting with "Longhorn" Microsofts wanna be OS X update in 2005 or 06 which means that IE will not be updated for 2 to 3 years. And you will have to buy a new Operating System to do so.
How many years did it take for IE to start following standards instead of making them up. Safari is in BETA and less than a year old and follows a hefty amount. Its roots are from an Open source community so developement will grow and grow- the code is not under strick lock and key.
Does Safari crash sometimes...sure... but way less than IE does on a mac or windows in my opinion. I had two bad pages since Safari was released- and a zillion in IE for the mac. Hell I cant even leave THIS site on IE without the browser crashing.Rumors of Safari and Camino for Windows offered for free where anyone can develop for it...
