if you need bills paid then stick with the job for a wee while.
if you had any passion for design and what you do then you'd be going home in the evening and working on your own projects that WERE portfolio worthy.
people dont just land good jobs, you've got to stand out from the rest, you've got to show a passion - that for no reason other than for your own satisfaction you'd happily spend your spare time doing shit for yourself.
when i was at art college i wasnt just doing the coursework, i was doing posters for bands, flyers, learning basic html (we werent getting taught that no the course) and also teaching myself how to use director (flash wasnt out yet).
and THAT kind of dedication and extra portfolio work is the kind of effort that gets you snapped up by a cool company.
whenever we've got students in for work experience i always tell them that advice.
places want people that live eat and breathe design and dont just go home at 5.30 and watch pop idol.
