there is lots of work, and lots to do – for a city.
but in particular, I find NY to be a concrete cage. Its a pain in the ass to get in and out of, and if you want some descent nature its a real pain to get out of and find some (the hamptons dont count as its so pretentious its not worth it).
So again, lots of work, pretty high cost of living (coming in third to SF and then Boston I believe), lots to do city-wise, but if you live on the island I always felt rather stuck. on the island.
