publicity stunt he maybe pulled himsef to get some news coverage and get his name into the headlines perhaps?
i remember when elvis did the same sort of thing. everyone thougth he was dead (and still does). he's got the last laugh though as he enjoys a nice chilled life working at the fillign station at his local safeway.
