you could just use agreed practices such as delete them from the server when working on them... or always save with a date/time stamp in the filename... or only allow saves back to a different directory...
But what is faster about copying them locally anyway? They are held in RAM when they are open arent they? or is this for batch copying, multiple local saves, then copying back the final version?
