    youtube not only compresses—around 200 kbs for image and a bit more allocated for sound—they also downscale to 320x240 and stretch it to fill the player frame.

    Most video sharing sites do that to avoid bandwidth and processor issues (that may affect playing when more than one app or video are open).

    I think brightcove is the only site that has better compression and does not stretch the videos as much, but they are not geared towards UGC.
