I wish I could help, my only point in responding, is to tell you that sifr is far from perfect and full of holes.
On Q 1: I don't think that is possible, you must specify which font to use in the css, there may be some way to do it with an AS/JS/CSS solution, but I dont know about it.
On Q 2: not sure if its browser related, but make sure your dynamic text field in your flash is on a whole pixel. Sometimes weird things happen with dynamic text when your text field is positioned on anything other than a whole number for your x and y value.
