I have a theory: big name companies dump your resume directly into the trash if you don't have a fancy school and/or other big name companies on your resume.

    What do you guys think?

I believe by law they have to hold onto them for one year.

Maybe it's your approach? You're presentation?

Even the most well assembled book/portfolio doesn't speak for itself. You need to be prepared to effectively present your work to prospective employers. That means on your site, your resume and cover letter, and in person.

Anyone who just thinks 'my work speaks for itself' and throws their stuff out there is going to come to a sad realization.

Unless of course you're a God amongst men in terms of being a designer.

Maybe rethink you approach ya know?!?

    Keep your chin up.
