Kelpie's hit the nail on the head, sadly. From what I've know, if you're working for the ex-pat market you can hope to make a lot more money than otherwise. Spain's still a bit behind the times when it comes to wages (outside bloody Madrid, anyway)
if you freelance, have you tried targeting the Brits/Germans/- Scandinavians?
If it doesn't work out - hell, you could always join the rest of the Spanish population in London!
