abercrombie's hiring practices are obviously branding mechanisms: they hire people that resemble those in their ads and have them wear their brand while they work. they are clothed maniquines (sp?) with a pulse and a clever idea if you ask me.
while i can appreciate the concern of other minorities concerning this matter, it's hard to sympathize regarding a position which pays beans and where the only incentive is a modest store discount. we aren't talking career building or resume strengthening positions here.
but even so, i understand it's the principal.
on another note, i've seen a few black and asian people that work at these stores and i think that these rare cases are related to the number of people in these ethnic groups that wear this brand - not many.
