Sounds like you're going to Juxt? Move to Huntington Beach, i did it and the drive to Newport/Juxt was only 10mins on PCH, best drive to work you'll ever make, views are nice.
Downtown Long Beach is pretty sick, some of my friends at Mindflood live there and love it. There's also alot of families who live there, like any other place.
Don't move to Irvine, stay away from the other side of the 405, it'll be the most boring experience if you're into having a social life.
