there's a book called 'wind wave pine', or something like that, which has a pretty hefty library of family crests in the back – most or all of them are representational of a particular natural thing (a plant or bud/blossom in this case). I'll check it out when I get home and let you know if there's anything useful in there.
I got nothing on the Kanji, but the middle character is 'ri' in hiragana and katakana. not like that helps.
