Nice to see some constructive comments on here rather than what seems to have become the normal sniping.
Some great advice on this thread - only thing I could add is to get them to give you the content for the site BEFORE you start putting a design together.
Seems to happen the other way around, ie design site then shoehorn in content far too often, least in my experience. Dosen't give the best results.
Good luck, and hey, if they thought you could do it all from the go then you wouldn't be doing a 'junior' graphic desing job right?
