be classy and cool with the follow ups, just don't be passive. the medium and the message should be customized to each particular client, but whether it's a card or a phone call or a lunch, there must be a follow up. clients want a good relationship more than they want great creative (for the most part), so cultivate it wisely and they'll be around for a while.
